Library Cards

Eligibility

SGPL issues free cards to residents of Spruce Grove and Parkland County. Library cards can be issued to non-residents for a differential fee. In order to complete your application and agree to the Cardholder Terms & Conditions, government-issued ID along with proof of current address is required. Cards issued to children ages 17 and younger must be signed for by a parent or legal guardian. Further, children ages 11 and younger must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver in the library. Annual Membership Fees

(For City of Spruce Grove and Parkland County Residents with Government-issued ID and Proof of Address)

Basic (includes card for each member of the family/household) FREE
Replacement Card $3.00
Non-Residents (living outside Parkland County) $40.00
Temporary Residents* $40.00
Institutional Membership** $40.00

*Will be charged a pro-rated fee for the period of time living in the qualifying area. Must provide temporary AND permanent address and contact information.

**A staff member from the institution requesting a membership must agree to be the designated point of contact (or ‘liaison’) for library purposes.
 
Item Limits
A cardholder may check out 100 items of any kind at a time, except for Video Games, DVDs, Blu-Ray and Music CDs. Video Games are restricted to 2 items total at a time and the DVDs, Blu-Ray and Music CDs are restricted to 10 items total at a time.

DVDs, Blu-Rays, Music CDs and Special Collections 1 Week
TV Shows and Video Games 2 Weeks
All Other Library Materials 3 Weeks
   

Overdue Fees

Print Material, DVDs, Music CDs and Books on CD $0.25/day
Video Games, Special Materials, Kits and Devices $1.00/day
   

Unclaimed Holds Fees
Bringing in an item from another library in TRAC is free. Patrons are charged a $2.00/item non-pickup fee if the item is not picked up within 10 open days of its arrival or if they have not requested the cancellation of the hold.

Access Beyond SGPL
With your card, you can access the collections of more than 150 public libraries that are members of four regional library systems: Yellowhead, Northern Lights, Marigold, and Peace library systems. This resource-sharing group is known as the TRAC consortium. And, you have access to ME Libraries-- join other public libraries across Alberta and borrow their materials using your SGPL library card!
