COVID 19 FAQ


To slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus, Spruce Grove Public Library is closed, and all programs and room bookings are cancelled until further notice.

  • Due dates will be extended to ensure you are not subject to any overdue fees.
  • We will respond to emails and phone messages as quickly as possible and encourage you to visit our Facebook page for daily service updates.

FAQ


When will the library be open?

With the COVID-19 pandemic rapidly changing it is difficult to say. Our library is closely monitoring the recommendations from the Alberta government and considering the safety of our staff and patrons. Once it is safe to open our doors, we will let our patrons know. Be sure to check our website and social media for updates.

Can I return my items to the Spruce Grove Public Library?

Yes, you can return any items that fit through the 24 hr drop-off slots located outside to the left of the main library entrance. Any ‘oversize’ items (such as backpacks, sensory items, or kits) that will not fit, feel free to hold onto until we reopen, with no fines charged. Returned items will remain on the account for 3-4 days.

If I returned something that is overdue will I be charged overdue fees?

No, all items will be backdated to the date that we closed, Mar.13/2020, to avoid the accrual of any overdue fines.

My account is about to expire. How do I renew it?

All SGPL accounts that expire in March, April or May have been automatically extended until July 31st. 
You can phone us and leave a message or email us and we will contact you about a temporary renewal of your card.

I don’t have a library card. Can I still sign up?

Yes, you can register for a card using online registration. Your temporary card will be good for 3 months and you will have access to eResources with your account

Will I still be able to pick up my holds?

SGPL is currently working to deliver holds available prior to March 13 via curbside pickup. Staff will contact you to arrange a pickup time. 

Can I request and check out materials from your library?

If you have a membership with the Spruce Grove Public Library or Stony Plain Public Library you may request items for curbside pickup via webform*. If you are registered with another TRAC library please contact your home library for information on similar services they provide.  

*You cannot place holds directly in TRACpac at this time

Will I be charged the $2.00 unclaimed fee if I don’t pick up my hold?

No, you will not be charged for the hold unclaimed fee while we remain closed to the public. 

Can I donate items right now?

We are not taking donations currently.Please check the guidelines for donating items for when we are accepting them.

How can I access eResources if my account is blocked? 

If your account is blocked you’ll have to call or email the library at 780-962-4423 or library@sgpl.ca.
Your account may be blocked if you have fines are over $10.00. You can pay fines over the phone with a credit card. 

My account is currently blocked because of fees. Can I make a payment over the phone?

Yes, we can accept credit card payments over the phone to clear up any blocked accounts. Please phone us and leave a message or email us and we will contact you about making a payment on your account. Please do not send us any of personal financial information in advance.
