Spruce Grove Public Library will re-open its doors with restrictions

At last night's SGPL Board meeting, Trustees unanimously approved the SGPL Re-opening Outline as presented by Library Administration that allows public admittance to the building beginning on Tuesday, June 23 and is subject to the following restrictions: 

Public Hours of Operations 

      Tuesday - Saturday, 10am-1pm and 1:30-5:30pm (the doors will be closed from 1-1:30pm to allow for shift change and new sanitization procedures)

In-house Public Service Delivery 

      Fast Check-out Library personnel will collect holds (items previously requested using TRAC for delivery to SGPL ) and check out items for cardholders as well as renew accounts and collect fees

      Customer Service Library personnel will register new cardholders, troubleshoot cardholder account issues, provide eResource assistance, and offer readers' advisory support to assist cardholders find items in the collection

      Computer Access Library personnel will answer questions and manage access to 6 public computers that can be used for a maximum of 50 minutes per session and are available on a first-come, first-served basis

Self-Check Out will be available for patrons to check out holds 

Virtual Community Service Delivery

      Summer Reading Challenge Library personnel will be delivering all programs virtually 

What has changed

     Only the aforementioned services and programs will be available

     A library greeter will welcome library-goers and provide screening, access, and directional instructions to each individual/family

     All Province of Alberta social distancing and physical hygiene recommendations to prevent the spread of COVID-19 must be followed and will be enforced using the SGPL Public Code of Conduct   

     The wearing of masks and/or gloves although not required is welcomed to ensure all staff and patrons feel safe while re-entering the library environment

     A library computer clerk will assign, monitor, and sanitize each computer session and headphones will not be available at each station

     The Friends' of SGPL Cafe will not be opened until a later, yet-to-be-determine date and there will not be free coffee service available

     The Children's Area will not be open until a later, yet-to-be-determined date and there will not be access to toys or doll kits available

     The Tech Tank (f.k.a. Innovation Lab) will not be open until a later, yet-to-be-determined date

     The gaming computers and systems will not be available until a later, yet-to-be-determined date

     Browsing of the stacks will not be allowed until a later, yet-to-be-determined date

     Gathering in the common areas to socialize, study, or for other purposes will not be allowed until a later, yet-to-be-determined date

What has stayed the same

      Library personnel are looking forward to reconnecting with patrons and providing excellent customer service to all community members

      FREE WiFi is accessible by parking in the stalls that are marked by signage in the windows

      Virtual programs and archives

      Digital resource access

      Online Chat services **new**

      Access (via library personnel) to in-house collection items including new releases, audio-visual, backpacks, video games, and bibliotherapy kits

      Cash, debit card, and credit card payments

 As the Province moves closer to Stage 3 of Alberta's Relaunch Strategy, SGPL's Board and staff will keep you informed if and when restrictions are gradually lifted and we return to business as "usual."
