Bibliotherapy kits are a collection of therapeutic books, magazines, DVDs, and brochures covering a variety of health and wellness topics for adults, children, and families. Each kit comes in an easy to carry case, and is easy to use.

"Our Canadian Heritage Through Play" are themed kits that bundle together sets of resources, including a doll, selection of books and accessories for the doll that fit the character or province/region of the kit.

These kits offer parents and caregivers the opportunity to share stories and the love of reading with children. They encourage lively interaction with theme-based books, dolls and accessories. 

Embrace our rich Canadian culture and heritage. Come check them out in the Children’s Area of the library!

Kits will be available to borrow and take home to enjoy with your family (loan period: 3 weeks) in the safety and convenience of your own home.

This initial collection will grow to encompass more kits to explore a variety of themes and learn new skills.

Literacy Backpacks offer parents and caregivers the opportunity to share stories and the love of reading with children. They encourage lively interaction with theme-based books, puppets, games and activities. Come check them out in the children’s section of the library!

Now is the time to become a part of SGPL's book sharing movement! Little Free Libraries are popping up with small collections of donated books throughout the city. When you see one, all you have to do is take a book that interests you and read it! It's that simple. You can then return it to a Little Free Library, one of the Tri-region's libraries, or pass it along to a friend. Current locations in Spruce Grove include:

What are radon kits and how do we use them? 

This kit is designed to teach greater awareness about Radon. For more information please visit www.ab.lung.ca/radon Each kit comes with the radon device, coiled booklet of instructions and a survey. Please complete the survey when you return the kit to the library.

Can we place holds on the kit?

Yes, between the months of October - April, the kits are available in the TRACpac catalogue to borrow. The best time to detect Radon in Alberta is in the Winter. Only members of the Yellowhead Regional Library system can borrow the kits, click here to find out which local libraries are eligible. Kits will not be able to travel to patrons outside of our region.

How long do we get the kits for?

Loan period is three weeks with up to one renewal if there are no holds.

You can borrow a TransAlta Tri Leisure Centre Pass from SGPL! This is a very popular item so contact us and request a hold. Each pass has a borrowing period of 1 week and 0verdue fines are $1/day due to high demand. Family Pass for up to 5 family members (2 adults, 3 children), 6 passes available

Adult Pass for up to 2 adults, 1 pass available

Youth Pass for up to 2 youths, 1 pass available

Wifi Hubs FAQ (These items are exclusively available to cardholders of the Spruce Grove Public Library.)

Q: How long can I borrow the WiFi hub? 
A: 2 weeks 

Q: I see two networks called ASG-WIFI. Which one do I connect to? 
A: Each WiFi hub will produce a 2.4ghz and 5ghz network. For most devices, select the 5ghz network. If you have an older device that is struggling to connect, try the 2.4ghz network. 

Q: Where do I return the WiFi hub? 
A: Please return the WiFi hub to a library staff member during library hours. Do not place the WiFi hub in the bookdrop. 

Q: What are the overdue/lost fees? 
A: Lost/damaged fee is $250. Overdue fees are $1/day for a maximum of 1 week. After 1 week the wifi hub will be remotely disabled and you will be responsible for paying the full fee of $250. 

Q: Will I be charged for the data I use? 
A: No. The WiFi hubs have been generously provided by Telus with an unlimited data plan.
