Many of our programs and events are drop-in such as storytimes. These programs are flexible and great for busy individuals and families that may be less able to plan ahead.

However, some programs are registered as they may have limited space for participants or require supplies for each participant. Knowing how many people will attend a program in advance allows us to plan more effectively and make better use of library funds with less wastage.

Head on over to the full calendar, select the program you would like to register for.

If there are spots available for this program you can fill in the brief webform and register right away!

If a program is full you can add participants to the waitlist. We recommend that you use the waitlist as often we get cancellations and waitlist people will automatically be given any spots in a program that open up.

We have four programming seasons throughout the year:

Fall (September-December)

Winter (January-March)

Spring (April-June)

Summer (July-August)

Registration will usually open up the month before a programming season begins. We have found that if we open it up any earlier people register and forget what they signed up for.
We will share the specific dates on our social media platforms beforehand.

We recommend that you use the program waitlist as often we get cancellations and waitlist people will automatically be given any spots in a program that open up.

If a spot does become available those on the waitlist will be contacted by email to let them know that they are now registered for the program.

Program age recommendations are simply a guideline for content. Everyone is welcome to attend, regardless of age or ability!

However, do keep in mind that a program may not be appropriate for a younger audience as it was created for a particular development stage and maturity level. If an activity is too complex or challenging participants may become frustrated and not fully engage in the program. We only have a limited number of staff and are unable to provide 1:1 assistance to each participant during programs.

If you still would like your child to participate or have any questions about a program, please contact the Programming Team at asgprogramming@yrl.ab.ca or call us at 780-962-4423 ext. 0.

We strive to host inclusive, accessible programs, events and meeting spaces that enable all individuals, including individuals with disabilities, to engage fully.

To be respectful of those with allergies and environmental sensitivities, we ask that you please refrain from wearing strong fragrances.

To request an accommodation or have any questions about accessibility, please contact the Programming Team at asgprogramming@yrl.ab.ca or call us at 780-962-4423 ext. 0. To ensure the best experience, please try to contact us at your soonest convenience.

Something came up, you are sick, you got your child into soccer after all. Plans change and that is ok.
If you need to cancel you can click the link in your confirmation email (check the junk folder if you don't see it in your inbox) to adjust your booking.

Let us know if you can't make it to a program you registered for as soon as possible. Many of our programs have a limited capacity and we do have others on the waitlist. Please see our cancellation policy for further details.

Walk-ins are welcome if space allows for registered programs (i.e. no-shows).

Children under the age of twelve must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver in the library. Children left unaccompanied in the library in violation of the policy may necessitate a referral to Children Services or other authorities.

This includes during programs (exception: a waiver has been signed for a specific program). Caregivers must remain on the library premises for the program duration.

Children twelve and older may be unaccompanied provided they observe proper conduct. Such children are subject to the same rules of conduct as other patrons and to the same consequences, including being asked to leave the library if warranted.

Children of any age who require special supervision must be accompanied by a parent or responsible caregiver at all times.

Parents or legal guardians must assume responsibility for deciding what library programs and resources are appropriate for their children. Access to library resources is not limited to "age appropriate" material, and includes print, audiovisual and unfiltered internet access. The library's staff is not in a position to provide this monitoring and supervision or to serve in loco parentis.

Let us know if you can't make it to a program you registered for as soon as possible. Many of our programs have a limited capacity and we do have others on the waitlist.

Programs cancellations must be notified minimum 24 hours prior to the event. If patrons cancel at short notice this doesn't allow time for those on the waitlist to have the opportunity to attend programs.

If patrons continually do not show for programs they have registered for (and have not contacted the library) we may block you from registering for future programs and/or move your registration to the waitlist.

If you need to cancel you can click the link in your confirmation email (check the junk folder if you don't see it in your inbox) to adjust your booking.

Many of our programs/events will be held in a separate meeting room or program room. Program location is noted on marketing and also in program information. You can take a look at ALL upcoming programs and events for the season in the full calendar. The library will be open during regular operating hours and all services are available.

Some programs/events may take place in the general library space. Due to this library services may be disrupted, and certain library services may be temporarily unavailable (e.g. access to a quiet study space or reading space, access to gaming consoles, and room rental bookings).

Due to the possibility of library service disruption (e.g. loud sounds and large crowds), please contact the library at library@sgpl.ca or at 780-962-4423 for further assistance (the TRACpac App and curbside pick-up service are available). We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience and understanding.

Programs/events may not appeal or be suitable for all audiences.
Parents or legal guardians must assume responsibility for deciding what library programs and resources are appropriate for their children.

Are you planning on bringing a large group to one of our programs?

Please contact the Programming Team ahead at asgprogramming@yrl.ab.ca or call us at 780-962-4423 ext. 0 so we can best accommodate you as many of our programs have a limited capacity.

However, we also offer library tours and outreach visits. These may be a better fit for your organization. Tours and outreach visits are free and available for any group or organization, within the Spruce Grove area.
