Library Membership

If you live in Spruce Grove, Parkland County, a First Nation community in Alberta, or any Yellowhead Regional Library municipality, you are eligible for a FREE TRAC card from SGPL.

**Applicants under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian register on their behalf**  

To get your card please visit the library with a government-issued ID and proof of current residential address. (A P.O. Box or General Delivery is not considered proof of residential address.)

Acceptable forms of government issued ID include:
  • Valid drivers’ license
  • Government issued photo health card
  • Secure Certificate of Indian Status Card
  • Valid passport
Acceptable forms of proof of current residential address include:
  • Valid drivers’ license
  • Utility bill (issued within the last 2 months)
  • Insurance document (current within last 2 months)
  • Vehicle registration document (current within last 2 months)
    Rental lease agreement or receipt (current within last 2 months)
  • Mortgage documents (current within last 2 months)
  • Mail received from a government agency (within the last 2 months)

Just enter your library barcode number and pin to start enjoying our eResources!

Download the new TRACpac app to view and manage your account from your device or manage your account online at www.tracpac.ab.ca:

  1. Click Login in the top right corner.
  2. Enter your Library Barcode and Password. *The default password is set to the last 4 digits of your phone number*
  3. Once logged in, you will see a list of all the items currently signed out on your account.

From here you can renew items, view your requests, and view your accounts fines and fees.

In most cases, we can renew your borrowed items so you can enjoy them even longer! Call us, log in, or visit us to renew your items. 

Returning library items past their due date will result in overdue fines; lost or damaged items are subject to replacement fees. The maximum fine per item is $10.00 or the price of the item, whichever is less. The Library reserves the right to recover any charges incurred for the procurement of materials from other sources.

Almost Overdue Notice – As a courtesy, you will receive an almost overdue notice 2 days before your item is due.  These automated messages are sent via email or text only. Failure to receive this notification is not grounds for waiving an incurred fee.

First Overdue Notice - Items 1 week past due will receive a first overdue notice. These automated messages are sent via phone, email, or text.

Second Overdue Notice – Items 3 weeks past due will receive a second overdue notice. These automated messages are sent via phone, email, or text.

Billing Notice – Items 6 weeks past due will be considered lost and automatically billed to your account. These automatic messages are sent via phone, email, or text.

Fine Notice – If your account balance is $10.00 or more, you will receive a fine notice and your account will become blocked. These automated messages are sent via mail, email, or text.

Account information may be disclosed to parents/guardians if a minors’ account is in arrears.

Stage 1

Invoice Letter – An invoice with the replacement cost will be sent for items still not returned 30 days after a billing notice or for accounts with a balance of $20.00 or more. Items returned will be fined applicable overdue fees. These letters are sent by mail or email by a library staff member.

Stage 2

Final Notice – A final notice will be sent for items not returned 60 days after a billing notice or for accounts with a balance of $20.00 or more. Items returned within a reasonable amount of time following the final notice will be fined the maximum overdue fee of $10.00 or the cost of the item; whichever is less. These letters are sent by mail or email by a library staff member.

Stage 3

Collection Agency – Accounts in arrears for more than 60 days with a balance of $20.00 may be sent to the library’s preferred collection agency. The library can no longer negotiate the account.

Previously paid replacement costs for lost items will not be refunded if the item is returned. Once an item has been paid for, it is no longer considered property of SGPL.
